Issue 1, Volume 1 - Inaugural Newsletter
Issue 1, vol. 1
Welcome
to the
inaugural issue of Restoring Eden’s newsletter, the CreationVoice!
Restoring Eden
is both a conversation and a community of Christians convinced that we
must better care for God’s creation. Now, we’re expanding that
conversation to the internet. About every three weeks, we’ll keep you
up
to date with how Christians all over the world are finding new and
innovative
ways to love, serve, and protect God’s creation.
- Making your hearts bigger – Let's be like
children at the zoo, full
of wonder and marvel at the majesty of God’s creation. From family
day-hikes in
a forest to church field trips in local organic vineyards, the
CreationVoice
will share examples of how God’s people are again walking in
relationship
and reverence.
- Making your hands dirtier – With reverence
comes responsibility, so
CreationVoice will share fun and meaningful ways to help the Restoring
Eden community live more gently upon the earth.
- Making your voice stronger – The CreationVoice will
“speak out for those
who cannot speak for themselves” by advocating within the public and
political
arena for natural habitats, wild species, and indigenous peoples.
We’ll defend the “least of these” in God’s creation from the
destructive
special interests with opportunities for you to speak out for better
policy.
But a conversation isn’t just a one-way thing. That’s why the
conversation will start in the CreationVoice, but continue at RestoringEden.org. In the
coming weeks, we’ll start an interactive blog to keep the dialogue
going. And the CreationVoice will also keep you
in-the-know about upcoming Restoring Eden speaking engagements,
publications,
conferences, and workshops.
The
CreationVoice
will be edited by Brandon
Rhodes,
our Communications Director. As an
honors graduate of the University of Oregon’s Environmental Studies
program,
and now as a divinity student at Multnomah Biblical Seminary, we know
he’ll be
able to bring fresh, dynamic ideas to the conversation.
Cheers and prayers,
Restoring Eden Staff
